Letter from the Principal regarding JKM

August 7, 2020

To our F.L. Schlagle Families,

With a heavy heart I have to write this letter to inform you about the death of one of our students.

17-year-old Jose Kimble-Manning was about to enter his senior year at Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. At this time, we ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

There are very few details around the death of Jose. We do know police were called to the area of 62nd and Nebraska around 10pm last night where they found him shot. We also know that there are no suspects in custody at this time. Police are now asking anyone with information to call the tips hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

In addition, our Critical Incident Response Team is available to support students and staff while adhering to social distancing. If you need support, please contact Angela Dunn, Behavioral Health Coordinator, by email at Angela.Dunn@kckps.org or by texting 913-954-0219. She will then connect you with a trained crisis response staff member for virtual, confidential support.
